Education Research

When doing research in education use the ERIC and Education Full Text databases. Also, be mindful of the search terms you use. It is best to compile a list of search terms before beginning your search. To help you select the search terms that will produce the best results, consult the database's thesaurus.

If you'd like help with your research, you can schedule a research consultation with one of the librarians by clicking this link: http://www.uwosh.edu/library/rap/

You may also contact me at katz@uwosh.edu or 424-2320 (please leave a message).

Good luck with your research!

Database of Award Winning Children's Literature

I want to share with you one of my favorite children's literature web resources. It's called Database of Award Winning Children's Literature. This database consists of almost 7,000 records of children's and young adult books that have won awards. The thing I like best about it is that you can specify what kinds of books you'd like according to certain limiters. Hence, you can compile a customized booklist according to age, historical period, geographic location, genre, ethnicity of the protagonist of the story, and so on. It is definitely the best resource I know for generating such lists. The URL is http://www.dawcl.com/search.asp

Picture Books about Cats

Cats seem to be a favorite topic when it comes to picture books. Here's a link to a bibliography of children's books about cats: http://www.education.uiowa.edu/crl/bibliographies/pdf/cats_print.pdf

Also, if you want to take a look at a display of picture books about cats in the EMC, come swing by. The display is across from the reference desk and will be on display through next week.
